What a beautiful way to highlight a place of rest…
…bring an edge to a family room.
…insert instant old-world glamor
…infuse a modern sensibility
…or highlight an entry into the next room

I’ve already thought about how I can somehow incorporate the last example of molding into my next home. I love how molding instantly adds dimension to any room – it’s such a subtle yet striking detail that isn’t necessarily expensive but very chic. My parent’s home has gorgeous crown molding in their living room that I’d love to recreate. But I also love how it encircles the bed and door way too – I’m so excited about the possibilities!
Do you have molding in your home? What are your most favorite uses of molding?
A beautiful molding really sells a house. I like all your pics.
I am a HUGE fan of decorative molding. It’s like a chandelier, once in a room, you don’t need much else. It is timeless, classic, graceful, and just oh so lovely. Have great day ~ xox Alexandra
How glam is that living room (3rd pic)?!!? We have a little bit of original moulding on the ceilings like in the last image – over 100 years old!
The molding is gorgeous, but I’m really dying over the light fixtures in the third photo!
I love the idea of putting molding behind the bed. Genius! Our apartment is a restored Victorian, so there is some gorgeous crown molding in almost every room – I love it!
We had really awesome crown molding in the old townhouse I lived in as a kid. I think that’s where my love affair with it began.
The molding over the bed is spectacular!
Oh my goodness, so pretty!
funny – b/c my molding guy FINALLY showed up yesterday @ my house – i had to go over what i needed to order and such .. getting crown, base, and trim done ..
i LOVE tre-ceiling – my brother has them and i DIE everytime i see em’! .. that one livingroom with the killer lights – *sigh* .. and i would of NEVER thought of molding above the bed for decor ..
PS – pass on the GIVE-AWAY .. come 1 come all :o) .. $45 worth of goodness waiting for you all :o)

love the molding over the bed 🙂 frames it quite nicely.
Moulding totally changes the look of a room. One of the first things I hope to do in the new house is to add crown moulding to the kitchen to close the small gap between ceiling and cabinet.
Back in India we have it … Most home do! Right now I am just picturing my future home and how I will incorporate all these fab ideas I see everyday!
That last pictures is incredible. I love the way it leads into another room, and the unexpected shape. Makes me wish I weren’t a renter and could do whatever I wanted to beautify my home.
i love the molding above the bedroom. i wouldn’t have thought of that!
I’m such a fan of molding anywhere within a house! It just polishes off the space and looks crisp & clean!
holy moly you’ve got some gorgeousness going on here!
i have some molding in my home. i like it, but it is right next to my cottage cheese ceiling. bleh! oh well!
I’m a BIG fan of molding! These are all gorgeous! Great choices 🙂

@Claire Kiefer – yes I can’t wait to stop renting and have the freedom to really dress up my home!
love the details!!! definitely they make the difference in a space!!!
Rooms 1 & 3 are amazing!! So unique.
The last pic took my breath away! love unique doorways/archways.
I can’t even concentrate on the molding – I’m far too fixated on those chandeliers!
the first, third and fifth ones make the home seem like a palace… in a very comfortable, lovely way.
These photos are so lovely. Our new place was built in 1924 so it has these lovely moldings around the lights on the ceiling in the bedroom and lounge room. Can’t wait to move in!!
I don’t have any molding in this place…but I would sure love to frame an entry way in the next one!!
These pictures are beautiful!!
