Decor Thoughts: Madrid Caramel toned bachelor pad

March 4, 2014

I have never thought of decorating my home in shades of brown.

Actually, we barely have any brown here, unless you count the varying shades of gold from our vintage looking side table.

I saw this home of Madrid based painter Santiago Castillo on Domaine and realized – actually brown can work!  I am really intrigued by all the shades of caramel in the home.  It feels more decidedly masculine, but is still warm. I also love the unexpected pop of patterns as seen in the bedroom’s headboard fabric.

Oh and that bathroom – I have to remember to have rocking wallpaper and richly colored marble accents in my future bathroom!

The whole space feels so warm, useable and home-y. I love that bathroom-wallpaper. What a fantastic place. Have a beautiful day, dear. xo

To be honest, I am not much of a brown person either. Our home in Singapore is not really a good representation of us, but the furniture and decor items I have in the US (in storage) are more greys, metallics and blues… That beings said, there is something lovely and rich about this home! And I love how worn the leather looks— love the patina of it…

My home is beige, brown, black and gold both inside and out. LOL It can be nice. These pieces seem more masculine to me.

This home has a really nice cozy yet modern feel to it that is really inviting. We barely have any brown in our home either or in our closet for that matter. It’s just not a color I’m really attracted to.

Hope you’re doing well this week!

We actually had quite a it of brown in the home in our old place … in the living room area, mostly furniture and framing, but all various shades that work together. These are wonderful images of inspiration.

I know what you mean how the brown can look masculine, but I really love this and especially the photo of the white chair in front of the little table. We don’t have much brown either but I noticed it often goes well with black and white.

Nice post and great photos as usual! 🙂
