Decor Thoughts: Floral wall/background

March 24, 2010

I’m still on the lookout for interesting design ideas since I’m planning my brother’ wedding (TBD date).  I came across these two images and was smitten.  I totally want to use them somehow but how?

Ruche’s floral wall with flowers made out of butcher paper

I like this because:

  • you can make it ahead of time
  • they can be used afterwards
  • different sizes can be created
  • different colors can be created

The garland or runner idea could be kinda interesting too.

Then there’s the real floral wall here

From here

Gorgeous.  Simply gorgeous.

But I can only think of using these backgrounds for the ceremony or a photo booth.  Would there be other uses for these floral backgrounds?  I am just a sucker for anything pretty…oh and if I made all those paper flowers, they’d find their way into a wall in my home.

yes to the flower wall I say.

Depending on the venue you’re using can’t you create this wall anywhere? It doesn’t have to necessarily be used for photos or the ceremony. I guess it would work best in a blank canvas or white wall warehouse type of space. However as long as the venue isn’t too ‘fussy’ both in terms of you doing things to the walls and in terms of decor already I think it will be fab!

I want the floral wall in my room NOW! Love it love it!!!!

  • Heather Taylor March 24, 2010 at 23:51

How clever! I would love a flower wall!

  • Jessica March 25, 2010 at 01:28

So pretty! I’m not sure what I’d use these for either, but they’re lovely.

Though, I wonder if there’s a way to create a flat panel for in front of the wedding party table – maybe foam core board that could be fashioned to fit around the table. Then you could create a “garden” for the wedding party to sit atop.

They would look fantastic as a photobooth background. Oh how I adore photobooths.

You could have this behind cake table, or maybe even dessert/candy bar table?

  • nookie March 25, 2010 at 20:13

    I’m loving these!

  • A Los Angeles Love March 25, 2010 at 22:15

You could use it as a curtain for entering the reception area, or as a wall of the reception hall, or as ribbons hanging from a tree. You could then scatter similar flowers around the tables or buffet area too – in a different color and/or size – too for tied-in reception decor. Love these!

  • Salt March 25, 2010 at 23:15

Oh those are all gorgeous! I want to make some of those butcher paper flowers for my house. 🙂

  • honey my heart March 25, 2010 at 23:24

flower walls are so great. i saw a blogger create on for her photo booth backdrop and it looked fab. i also love how it can be a great piece of art in your home 🙂

  • MizzJ March 26, 2010 at 05:19

Either of these would make a gorgeous option! The paper flowers might wear better though if it’s going to be up all day.

  • Sniff March 26, 2010 at 18:58

I love the floral wall! Looks fantastic! Is there anywhere in the reception area you could use it for decoration only? I would’t use it for a photo background, as it would take the attention away from the people being photographed. That is unless the happy couple would want some crazy wedding photos! 😉

  • Paulina March 31, 2010 at 22:12

That flower wall would be really cool in a bathroom. At least that’s where I would put mine. It’s a bit too much for anywhere else.
