What design elements have you ever envisioned for your home?
For some reason, I’ve been thinking about Dutch doors a lot lately. Dutch or stable or half doors are doors that are horizontally split in half. This allows one to open up the top half for warm light and a cool breeze while allowing the bottom half to be shut. Or conversely, one could open up the bottom half and allow small children or animals in and out easily. It is definitely whimsical and I’d love to see it in a country or summer home. I could imagine opening up the top half to enjoy the light from the late afternoon and passing some fresh fruit or pastries to family members waiting outside.
It is also interesting to think of a Dutch door for a kid’s room. The last Dutch door by Kidtropolis is beyond adorable…hmm, maybe some day…
In the meantime, here are a few favorite examples of Dutch doors:
These are so cute! I love the idea of using one for a kid’s bedroom.
I see these types of doors on home decor shows all the time and think they’re so cute. If only I lived in a house.

My favorite is the first door, but the last one is adorable!
Those are so cool! I forgot about them. Definitely a nice design element.

I love a Dutch door – adds such charm to any space. Love when there is glass in the top!
Dutch doors! I so prefer this name to what we call them over here (which is barn doors)! I think it’s called that, I’ve actually gone blank if I’m honest. But I do know it’s definitely not “Dutch”. For me I’ve kind of been obsessing over yellow elements. Not an entire place covered in it, just a small hint that makes a statement. Like a pantry door. My friends think I’m crazy when I say it. They don’t get it hahahaha!

Ahh barn doors huh? Dutch doors is really quite an adorable name and half doors just makes sense. A Dutch pantry door would totally make sense! Or maybe a pantry Dutch door with half glass/half wood would be useful – you could see what’s inside without going in!
So cute and also practical entrance!
Love the yellow one!

they are ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!! and so good for people with little ones! a lot more attractive than baby gates!
They really are so fun and quaint. I’ve always wanted one, despite their impracticality as an outside door.
