I’m fascinated by the idea of having a wall that’s a chalkboard after seeing this photo below. It would be a great outlet for kids or just for me to write really large messages to my husband. 😉
From here
I really wish we could paint the walls of our apartment, but the owners wouldn’t allow us to do that But I’m seriously thinking about it for our next place, or at least putting it on a portable surface.
The ever crafty Martha Stewart had a tutorial for making your own chalkboard paint as well as some great uses for a home chalkboard here. Home stores aren’t as plentiful in SE Asia so I’d just buy the chalkboard spray directly, like this Rustoleum one from Amazon (a mere $7.36).
This option suggested by Martha is kinda cool and totally useful.

What do you think of Chalkboards as decor?
Love the home office idea, very cool!!
fabulous xxxx
I love chalkboard walls…my little sister has one in her room and I’m very jealous
Of course the Martha one is P-E-R-F-E-C-T! I love this idea – my sister in law has one in her office & uses it like mad! She added some painted picture frames to keep it more organizes & it’s adorable.
Im absolutely loving the chalkboard idea!
It is a great stylish idea. Except my friend tells me by allowing her kids to write on the chalk board wall, they think it is okay to write on all the wall. now can you image cleaning up. : )
I need this because my boyfriend writes on walls with MARKER.
I love chalkboards, never thought of having it around the house though…That calendar is great !!! Love the idea.

Loving the idea for the pantry! If the owners won’t let you paint the walls, could you get a really huge frame and spray paint a surface with chalkboard paint and make it sort of like a chalkboard mirror? We have the same sort of restrictions at our place!
love the chalkboard calendar idea., it would add whimsy to a home office 🙂
We did it in our kitchen on the cabinets. We painted some contact paper with chalkboard paint to make our own very large sticker. That may be an option for you.

I ADORE this idea! How amazing is it?
I think it’s a really cool idea for say, the kitchen which is usually a more casual room in the house. You can find lots of adhesive chalkboards on Etsy that are quite affordable!

Totally against the chalkboard thing. Even thinking about touching chalk gives me the heebie-jeebies! I love the idea, just not for me! Jealous o your time in NY!
Heading to Asia in July: India, HK, Manila. Where are YOU going o be???
In Mr B’s old bachelor pad they had a HUGE wall painted with chalk board paint. It looks good at the start – but after a while you really can’t get it properly clean. It just ended up looking like a grey smeary mess.
I can’t wait to own a place so I can paint everything too!
