What types of unique home decor do you like in your home?
Burl wood certainly ensures a piece of furniture will be a statement piece. What is burl wood? I certainly didn’t know the name, though I definitely remember seeing it in a few places and became intrigued after seeing a feature in Domaine. It is a type of wood with a different type of ring pattern of shape; the irregular patterns are particularly prized and are called eyes. Unfortunately for the tree, the pattern is caused by environmental stress. But the results of the damage are particularly love and it is basically nature’s own tortoise shell design.
I love that this luxurious little piece can really call out an otherwise standard piece of furniture like a bench or jewelry box. It is a dreamy or baroque take on a typical wooden piece.
