Color infusion in evening/wedding gowns (via Bridal Market Spring 2011)

May 11, 2010

I love ivory and white wedding gowns. I’m kinda a traditional girl in that way.

But if I had seen some of the colored wedding gowns available today, I would have had to think twice.  Brides search for that gown that will make them feel confident and beautiful on that special day and these dresses would certainly do that.  These gowns are also a breath of fresh air for formal events.  Imagine wearing one of these for whatever great party you’re attending!

How light and bright is this Carol Hannah gown?  It just makes me want to skip, like the model.
Modern and romantic at once courtesy of Vera Wang
Remember when I talked about Carolina Herrara’s floral beauties?  Lazaro offers this hand-painted gown.  Simply stunning.
Finally basic black – love the lacey layers in this Tara Keely dress!

Since these gowns are hot off the runway, a trunk show or sample is the best way to get them discounted.  But you never know what you’ll turn up on Once Wed or Preowned Wedding Dresses or good ‘ol eBay!
Would you rock a colored gown for your big day?  Or just save these dresses for another fancy occasion?

Those dresses look so pretty, especially that hand-painted gown! Although I’m a traditional girl myself so I’m sticking to white or ivory when I get married 🙂

    yep! a black one>:)
    love the Tara Keely one!

Love the Vera Wang and Tara Keely, although I don’t love black for brides.

These are beautiful, but I’d save them for another occasion. I’m sticking with an ivory wedding gown and a purple sash for a splash of color.

Beautiful! Especially the black one – it’s just stunning. I may be in the market for a new wedding gown (so much drama on that front, post coming soon). My boss initially told me to just get a fabulous evening gown instead of a wedding dress. If it’s too late for me to order another gown, which I suspect it is, I may go this route if the dress I originally picked does not work out.

I love how they don’t look like traditional gowns, especially the gray one, my dress was gray and I want to wear it again and again. In fact, I will!

I absolutely love the idea of the colored dresses, though I don’t think I could give up going white on my wedding day. Maybe for a vow renewal? xxSAS

Oh yes I love the Vera! I would definitely have considered it 🙂

Oh no. You just found my near-prefect wedding dress (the Blue one by Carol Hannah.) Why only near-perfect? Yeah, because I don’t have $2700. Also, because I want this cut and material (like, this is almost exactly what I’ve been dreaming about) in mostly white with ombre blue or green on the bottom. But I’d “settle” for this dress… if I had another $1700 laying around. Boo.

I’m a traditional ivory/white gal also (my dress was ivory), but I do know a couple of people that have worn colored gowns in the past year and they looked beautiful (one friend wore black and another wore a pale blue).

I LOVE that first dress and of course the hand painted one is amazing too!

not sure about black, but all the other colors are so pretty. i personally love gwen stefani’s gown that was dipped in pink.

  • Chocolate Lover May 11, 2010 at 18:07

They are gorgeous dresses. I think I would use them for another special occasion though.

the black is a bit depressing but would be stunning for an evening dress!!

  • Mara May 11, 2010 at 20:04

I’d wear it to a fancy occasion! I like the purple one

  • Jennifer Vance May 11, 2010 at 20:24

Love the color of the Carol Hannah gown.Though I wouldn’t wear as a wedding dress,I love aqua, and think it would be great for someone who loves it too,but doesn’t want to overdo it.

It is refreshing to see so many options out there for brides! Bridal fashion can be so individualistic and unique. I love it!

  • shari @ little blue deer May 12, 2010 at 02:07

Love the blue one at the top, for sure! That looks the most like a wedding dress. I had a white ball gown, but I had a blue satin sash (cue Julie Andrews now) around the waist, tied twice with a floppy bow. It added a great pop of color, I am not really an all-white type of girl! XO!

I don’t know what I’d do honestly! It depends on my mood and the guy, I guess. I do know it would be a big, tulle-skirted princess gown though!

  • knk May 12, 2010 at 07:08

    lovely outfits

  • Mo May 12, 2010 at 07:18

I LOVE color, so I was actually thinking of ditching the white for my wedding, but then I went ahead and ivory anyway.
I’m not a huge fan of black or grey though since I like bright colors, but I’d make an exception for Vera. 🙂
