I’m not someone that subscribes to having certain meals at certain times.
I really love eating savory dishes, like delicate dumplings at dim sum (Cantonese style brunch where wonderful shrimp or pork dumplings are staples) in the morning. At the same time, I am also really happy to have a comforting meal of scrambled eggs and tomatoes in the evening as well.
While I can also have dessert any time of day, I definitely enjoy using that “dessert stomach” to share a dessert with friends after a satisfying dinner. I had read about 2am Dessert bar and was intrigued not only by the chef’s pedigree (Thomas Keller apprentice and San Pellegrino Best Pastry Chef in Asia for 2013), but really liked her concept of a night time spot that wasn’t all about drinks (though of course there was some fabulous wine).
The restaurant is beautifully and minimally designed.
It’s perfect for lounging with friends. Isn’t it cool how there were no chairs on the outsides of the tables so you were forced to lounge?
But of course we were here for the food. My friends got such goodies as basil white chocolate, frozen chocolate mousse (H20), and popcorn parfaits; they all came with optional wine pairings (but some people always want to try a new wine right!)
I was in a crunchy food mood and opted for wonderfully savory braised beef croquettes (watch out for the beef gravy that will ooze out!) and churros (some of the best I’ve ever tasted) and hot chocolate. I enjoyed both of my selections but my friends had mixed reviews about their own choices. When in doubt, get it fried!
I really liked the relaxed and elegant vibe to this place and would definitely recommend it. It is equally great for a date or a group of friends getting together. It is definitely a notch above the usual bar and offers something for everyone.
Who wouldn’t want to end her night with hot chocolate and churros right?
Wow, this place sounds amazing and eat dish seems like a culinary delight! Thanks for sharing the sweet experience!
How fantastic. I’d be up for some dessert right now.
