“I associate wisdom and grace with age.”
Christy Turlington
We all get older, whether we like it or not. But as we get older, do we get wiser? Christy Turlington by Chris Colls for Vogue Poland September 2018 is simply stunning at 49 years old (seriously!) and made me think about age and wisdom. On the one hand, I felt like I was making the same mistakes and had the same impediments for years. For instance, it has taken me years to figure out how to talk to my mother. She would call or FaceTime me with the most random questions. On more than one occasion, she has frantically called me to ask about how to attach an attachment. Or she would do something one way and I would try to explain all the alternatives in desperation, but have the explanation fall on deaf ears. I would just be exasperated and we would argue.
In time, I learned to approach it differently. I learned how to listen more readily which was hard since I thought I knew how to do it already right? I also learned to accept that there are some things that I can’t change, but I can try to change things about myself. Finally, I learned patience, humility, perseverance, and generosity in time which are characteristics I wish I had earlier in life. As a result, I’m not as stressed about little things and more aware of what I can improve as well. So I guess age does bring some wisdom. I hope I keep on learning!
Have a lovely week!
Great inspiration

thanks for sharing. I was just talking about the subject with a good friend yesterday. I do miss the gumption that I took for granted when I was young, but I agree that many good things have come along with age, too. It’s the flexibility and willingness to learn new things that will keep us young and hopefully, we will get wiser at the same time. 🙂
Well isn’t Christy an ageless beauty! And I get what you mean about talking to your mom. I have definitely gotten better about talking to my mom as an adult as well. Patience is key.
I saw Christy Turlington down in tribeca a few years ago. she is just stunning in person and she didn’t even have any makeup on.
The years sure do. I know I look back at my teen years and understand a lot more about myself then I did back then. Of course I fall into that trap of pining to go back and re-do it all with those lessons learnt, but such is life.
Christy is looking undeniably beautiful here. I love the minimal touch up
