Chic ‘n Cheap Living Contest: Florrie Mitton Couture Garter

April 9, 2010

Florrie Mitton Garters are the epitome of classy, luxurious, and gorgeous garters.

I was fortunate enough to win a Florrie Mitton garter for my own wedding (thanks darling Thirty Something Bride!)  This lovely silk tulle creation was such an elegant accessory and silk tulle is so soft…oohhh dreamy fabrics!

Claire is the designer behind Florrie Mitton Couture (Florrie Mitton was her grandmother’s name). She obtained a First Class Honours degree in fashion design.  Claire worked in the fashion industry for the past 6 years as an underwear designer before venturing out to create her own label.  Her wedding in Italy launched her desire to create couture garters.  She is inspired by ” Alice in Wonderland, flora & fauna, vintage glamour, the magical, whimsical & the ethereal…..”

Her materials consists of beautiful laces, silk satins, chiffons & tulles, trimmed with silk ribbons, beautiful charms and also a special limited edition vintage range. Her need to use the best materials and the design and details truly set her garters apart.
This is one example of one item that is worth the price – the materials and craftsmanship are first rate.

Why have a garter?
Claire says:
I want to make the garter a boudoir essential.  I think it shouldn’t be an item that is specifically wedding related, the idea of having it for an anniversary or special occasion or even just to add a bit of frou frou to your lingerie drawer!
That sounds about right to me!

Who will wear this garter?
Florrie Mitton’s target customer is 20-30 something, individual & style conscious with a passion for fashion.  That sounds like you ladies and really does wearing something luxe and lovely have an age limit?

Find Florrie Mitton Couture here:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/florriemitton

Look out for a new website as well this year!

The winner will have the choice of one of the following garters:
Alice – lovely lace with a pale blue silk ribbon

Innocence Spot Tulle Garter – lovely dots, a pearl trim, and silk ribbon adorn this garter

Finally, the Goddess garter – a gorgeous combination of embellishment, sequins, and lace

It’s the second in my series of Bloggy Birthday giveaways lovelies!

  • Heather Taylor April 9, 2010 at 21:18

She’s absolutely gifted with creating garters. I love them all, but I must say I am smitten with the Goddess because of the fantastic beadwork. So much attention to detail and so lovely to have a little glittering garter beneath your skirt or dress. I would probably spend the entire day lifting my skirt just to look at it! (An event I’m sure the guys at my college campus would be perfectly fine with.)
Though in all honesty, I’d want to wear it with a special guy. And in even more honesty, I really do wish it could be my ex. Even though I’m supposed to be over him, I don’t know if I ever will be. I think I’ll always harbor fond feelings for him in my heart and wish him all the best in life no matter what.
The garter is fabulous though and would get to see maybe more than one guy in its lifetime 😉

The more I look at these lovely confections, the more I find myself justifying my need for three or four of these. How could I possibly pick just one? The simplicity of Alice is charming, but the beading of goddess would match my vintage beaded wedding gown perfectly. I’d love to wear one of these for my wedding.

  • amber April 20, 2010 at 05:32

I think Alice is perfect. I don’t have a something blue yet, and I think the garter is the perfect way to hide the blue for brides like me who aren’t using it in their color palette!
