I was (am) one of those moms.  I read every label, carefully plan our menus to maximize nutrition, and feed my family mostly whole foods.  My daughter still eats french fries (I passed on my salty tooth!).  But I tried to get her to appreciate fruit and vegetables.  I made most of my daughter’s first foods from congee to her first mashed carrots.  I read up on what foods to feed her first, gradually increasing her exposure to different fruits and vegetables.  She began on root vegetables and peas and now loves most fruits, especially blueberries, strawberries, and bananas.
Eventually, I started feeding my little one more adventurous foods.  She ate quinoa, cauliflower, and peanut butter in her first year (it’s now recommended that kids are exposed to peanuts earlier).  I loved making my little one’s first foods, but also encountered problems.  I had to constantly make food in small batches and was exhausted. So I also loved and appreciated the convenience and selection of today’s baby food.
Today, our little ones are eating quinoa, spices, and chia seed in their first year!  I love that there are lots of baby food varieties now with healthy ingredients.  My daughter also first tried cinnamon, sage, and millet through her baby food pouches! We especially liked to bring baby food when we travel.

I made sure my little one is adventerous with food too which is why I usually cook at home. I don’t want him to be a meat and potatoes only kid so there’s always lots of fruits and vegetables. Thankfully he’s not fussy these days but it’s definitely a process of making him eat a wide variety of stuff.

Shireen, my little one is the same! She loves fruits but is so-so with veggies. I don’t want her only eating meat and fries!
I loved fried chicken when I was a kid. true story: I loved kfc so much that when my parents divorced and i had to move to south america with my mom, my dad would mail me kfc napkins just so i could have a piece of home.
I still love fried chicken, but am all about Popeye’s these days. Aww, how sweet that your dad would mail you napkins for a “taste” of home.
My favorite food was pizza.
I love that you’re exposing her to a variety of different foods and options! Being healthy, doesn’t mean you have to limit yourself. There’s so much out there! I love the choices that are out there. You’re doing an excellent job.
