Are you a risk taker or do you like to play it safe? This quote and editorial by Brie Larson for US InStyle March 2019 had me thinking about taking risks. Although, to be fair, if a bird knows she can fly out of a situation, she isn’t being too risky right?
But I still like the concept of aiming high, seeking what is at the top, and being unafraid to explore new places. I think I’ve always been one to play it safe. I wasn’t one for traveling on my own. It’s not like I was trying to create the next Amazon in my garage. I started my career along more “typical” paths out of college. On the other hand, I didn’t expect to be an expatriate for so many years! I didn’t necessarily think I’d raise third culture kids. I also didn’t think I’d be working in startups as well. But, like the bird, I always knew I had a great support network.
It has been great to have a supportive husband. He encourages to go for lofty goals. If I don’t make it, he lets me grieve or vent and lets me try again. When we first thought about moving abroad, he didn’t hesitate despite not even having traveled much at that point. He has also encouraged me when I found new career paths. So, don’t be afraid to reach high. There’s no guarantee you won’t fall. But, you may also soar.

these are gorgeous. love each of them. i like to take risks, i feel bored otherwise. and i learn a lot when i take risks as well. i think some risks aren’t worth taking depending on what they are, but for the most part risks can lead you to new adventures or beginnings. 🙂
