Let’s just get it out there first – a vacation with the kids just isn’t the same as a vacation without kids. I love my daughter with all my heart, but have a different experience when I bring her on vacation. Recently, my lucky little one came with us to the Maldives. I knew it wouldn’t be quite the laid-back, romantic vacation with her. But we all enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. We stayed at the Finolhu Maldives on Baa Atoll which has a cool, retro vibe. We had a great time too and not only survived vacation with a baby, but had a wonderful time because the little one was there. I know some of you may be going on vacation during winter break, so I wanted to share a few tips for really having fun with little ones on a resort.
1. Kids Club
Kids clubs are seriously the best spot on the resort for kids. We didn’t discover the Oceaneer’s Club or Kids club until the second day and we were missing out! The facilities at our resort were wonderful. It included a full playground, sand pit, pool, art area, and TV area with lots of toys. The little one participated in some art activities (i.e. splashing paint around). More importantly, she was supervised by two extra adults at all times so it was nice to have a breather!
2. Movie/Rec Room
We discovered the movie room through my little one’s boyfriend! She made a friend in the kids club and when she followed him through the restaurant, we discovered the rec room and movie room. It was a lovely place to watch a movie in a spacious environment. We watched “The Good Dinosaur” but there was a large selection of shows and movies.
3. Dining with a view
We splurged on one meal and dined at a restaurant with a wonderful overwater view. We sat on one corner and were able to see baby sharks and schools of fish passing by! There are usually a wide range of restaurants at a resort. Sometimes it’s worth it to splurge on one, especially if it has an interesting theme or amazing view.
4. Explore the grounds
A resort is your home for a few days so explore! They will have a wide range of facilities for people of all ages. I love design and interiors. So I was thrilled when we were able to visit a sister resort and visit different types of villas. They had everything from a treetop villa with massage room to an 8 bedroom house! It was fascinating seeing all of the options.
5. Beach/Pool
If you’re at the beach, make the most of the beach! We didn’t always have sunny days, but we still made the most of it. We also discovered a hidden beach by a restaurant. It was wonderful because there were barely any other guests there and we felt like it was our private beach! My little lady also loved the oversized swan and flamingo pool floats. We paid for use of these lovely beds on the beaches and we sure used them!
I’ve heard nothing but good things about the kids’ club! What a gorgeous place.
You know, that was a perfect time to go! Most people have been on vacation, so it wasn’t really busy. PERFECT! It looks like a dream! So picturesque. Your better resorts have a kids Club. Love the activities they had for them. So glad you guys had a great time.

The Movie/Rec Room looks like so much fun! And how fab is that Kids Club?!
xx
The rec room and movie room sounds like it’s great as well as the kids club. Travelling with a child is alway a bit tricky but it sounds like you were able to manage and still take a breather. Gorgeous pictures, I could use a holiday like that right about now!
I’m happy you took your little one to this beautiful place! You never know, she will probably remember it when she grows older. We were lucky to go to Maldives five years ago and I would love to visit it again!
