“The beginning is the most important part of the work.”
― Plato, The Republic
Is the beginning the most important part of a story?
There are certainly valid arguments that all parts of a story are important. The journey itself as well as how one handles the closure of an event are certainly instrumental. But there are no ends if there are no beginnings. The beginning sets the tone and itself brings such a combination of feelings – a sense of excitement, anticipation, and sometimes fear. But I am usually excited about new beginnings because most importantly, they bring new promises (the new spring weather in many parts of the world definitely brings a physical reminder of new beginnings.) Perhaps they aren’t all promises that may be fulfilled, but there is at least hope for something new.
I’m also thinking about beginnings as I congratulate a few friends who are now newly engaged. The engagement itself is no surprise (he moved across the world for her after only meeting a few times!) But I love that they are now entering a new phase and creating a new beginning to another chapter of their lives. So congratulations friends and while this beginning is important, the road ahead brings wonderful things too.
Have a lovely week!
Such wonderful news for your friends. Congratulations to them! This shoot is totally dreamy!
Congratulations to your friends! That’s so romantic that he moved across the world to be with her! Now that is LOVE! So much can happen from the beginning to the end. It can start & end well. It can start good and end bad. It can start bad and end good. LOL So many variables. All we can do is make the best of it and hope for the best.

Right, moving across the world is definitely bold! The proposal was actually very low key. She says she is waiting for a big production, but then said he’s forgiven because he already did the big gesture!
Those pictures are so dreamy! I do think there is something magical about beginnings 🙂
