I love sparkles, but not enough to be covered in glitter and sparkles everywhere (only kids can get away with that!)
I like the idea of a subtle gradient and transition of colors from light to dark (or in this case to sparkles!)
I was playing around with two favorite nail polish colors (Mary Jo Matsumoto 4FREE Naked State of Mind and Chanel Delight) and thought it would be fun to combine the two. I took a cue from the season and easily put a funky touch on my nails. I loved the tip of bright color and it reminded me of an edgier French manicure (I always thought those looked a bit weird, like the nail was growing too long!) This is definitely a versatile look – swap out the base colors for the season (brighter for warmer times and more neutral for cooler temperatures).
Here are the materials needed:
- base coat
- top coat
- 2 shades of nail polish (light and metallic or glitter)
Here are the steps I took to create these nails.
1. Prep cuticles and nails (remember my lip balm and base coat tips from my perfect manicure DIY here).
2. Coat entire nail in base color polish.
3. Touch up tips with metallic or glitter nail polish by sweeping French manicure in one to two coats around the tips of your nails.
4. Put on a final, clear top coat to seal the color.
I ***really*** love your nails here— this is exactly how I want to wear mine daily. Only problem- I can’t paint my nails to save my life (but I will keep trying!)…. That said, what is the metallic polish you use? Definitely looking for a great bottle!
Aww thanks Alexis! I liked the subtle and soft look here. I’m sure you are better at painting your nails than you think!
I used Chanel Delight nail polish here
So pretty!
Wow, your nails look pretty amazing. I love the look of golden tips on my nails too. 🙂
A pile of glitter can definitely feel a bit too juvenile, but a small sweep and a fresh look on a french manni is so chic!
These are gorgeous doll. I think it’s a nice difference to having glitter all over the nails…very pretty x
