“I like to go with the flow. Being whimsical is nice, occasionally. It keeps things fresh; there’s no expectation.”
Vijay Sethupathi
When was the last time you did something whimsical? I saw this editiorial of Alicia Vikander for US Harper’s Bazaar April 2019 and got all the whimsical vibes. Did anyone else instantly think of Mary Poppins too? I love the feeling of lightness – that she isn’t tied to anything and can glamorously float on. She’s setting, and going with her own flow. To be honest, I was never much of a whimsical person.
I love structure and routine and am not one for spontaneous activities. Most of us are creatures of habit, particularly as we get older. It is nice to plan things out and have and meet certain expectations. But my husband isn’t necessarily the same and is much more relaxed about things. He’s the one that pushes us to go on impulsive trips. He will sometimes look at things and want to shake them up so we do something a little different. I’ve learned to embrace the whimsical side once in a while too. While I love planning, I’ve also learned that life can also be wonderful when you give yourself a little more freedom and just wing it. Well that and sometimes we can’t control everything so why not just go with it?
So here’s to more of those whimsical moments!
Have a lovely week!
I want to be more spontaneous but my comfort zone usually lies in having a sense of structure and a plan. My husband tends to be the same way but sometimes we do try to push ourselves to just let go and we usually have fun that way too.
