I never really thought about sending care packages for our troops until reading a note from a fellow blogger, Micaela. She’s the sweetest lady and once told everyone that her brother is serving abroad and would appreciate any little things we can send his way (btw, please e-mail Micaela if you’d like to send to her brother). I included a package of candy, baby wipes (troops use this to clean their hands a lot), some other snacks and a short birthday card since she also informed me his birthday was coming up. I didn’t know him, but I knew lovely Micaela and since I’ve been abroad so much, also knew the joys of having familiar treats from home. That and of course, troops that dedicate themselves so wholeheartedly certainly deserve some care now and then!
Beyond Memorial Day: Share your Stuff with Servicemen

I never expected to get this lovely package in return. I found this awaiting for me at my parent’s house – a picture of Micaela’s brother’s unit with a short note and an American flag that they flew over Iraq. It was incredibly touching to receive this gift and a reminder that something small to us can be meaningful to someone else.
So if you find yourself with some extra candy or snack bars or see a sale on a game or something that would bring a smile to someone else, please consider sending a package to a servicemen. Great list of suggested items here.
Share a smile and some goodies with others (I think my husband’s favorite snack bars are going in the next package!)
Wow! I love this idea – what a great way to reach out to those that can’t be home.
I think that’s wonderful of you – and how amazing to have a flag that flew over Iraq, wow!
this is so great!! so cool that you sent stuff and then received something in return. you’ve inspired me to send a care package.
