The 1950s are in.
Or at least the fashion of the 1950s is in. It began with the styles seen in the ever popular series “Mad Men” and then briefly “Pan Am”. But it continues off the screen and onto the runway, especially in the designs seen on the runway for Christian Dior Couture Spring Summer 2012.
I love the full skirt, opera length gloves, and cinched waist of the first look. This is definitely a great look to replicate and celebrates the lady in all of us. I would also love a severe A-line skirt with a lovely petticoat peeking through – it’s brazenly feminine and unapologetically fun as is a traditional pencil skirt in an unexpected print and color. The last few pieces were retro and modern at the same time. The gradient coloring and luxurious layering made these classic styles new.
Gorgeous and feminine. This is great.

full skirts are absolutely gorgeous! also the houndstooth pencil skirt makes me smile.
lovin’ the red houndstooth pencil skirt.
as a woman i’m always terrified to wear white bottoms (yes, even now, what if my period DOES come early?? or i sit in chocolate pudding? or my pen explodes??)
but with the red houndstooth…

Beautiful looks – I love the 1950s look, since it suits my body type so well. I hope it stays around for awhile!

I just adore how this collection channels retro Dior! That third dress is smashing.
The Tim Walker book is fantastic cause it also gives a look into his creative process and how he dreams up those amazing scenarios he photographs.
So pretty, I love the second to last one.
Gorgeous! I love the second-to-last dress and find 1950s looks to be so flattering.
Dior is always so well tailored and whimsical. Gorgeous post!
I loved this collection! I thought Bill Gaytten did an amazing job 🙂 xoxo
love this pretty spin on the 50s especially since dior is the one who created this look originally back in the 50s, I really love that ombre skirt–to die for!

absolutely gorgeous!
Dior is best of show – they are really on their game this year. That ombre-ish dress is killer.
That second dress is fabulous!
the shapes are so retro but the patterns & details, so modern… love!
I’m with you…I’d be happy with any of these items! Dior has always put feminine pieces down the runway, and it just suits their brand!
