How do you deal with something unexpected? I saw these simple, but unexpected images from Jessica Hart By Pedro Quintana for Harper’s Bazaar Chile June 2018 and loved the unusual combination of her funky look and glamorous clothing. While this combination is planned, more often than not, the unexpected is unplanned and not within our control.  I have certainly encountered my share of unexpected setbacks.  When we first moved abroad, I at first found it very difficult to get a job.  My self esteem was shot and I floundered. After a long time (not a good time in the economy!), I finally got a project in a different functional area.  It was a tough project and hostile environment.  Someone seriously made up lies about me and tried to get me in trouble.  But I learned a lot about this new task and also about myself.  I certainly learned about patience, dedication and dealing with all types of personalities.  I’m actually considering a similar project now – it’s funny how I can appreciate and enjoy parts of that role now!

So we are almost all guaranteed to encounter negativity and failure at some point.  At the time, it will seem bleak.  But remember that there’s a long road ahead.  Forge ahead with your newfound knowledge and most importantly, keep going. When you encounter the unexpected again, you at least can face it much more differently and hopefully have a newfound sense or resilience.  Eventually, I found that for myself and hope you can too.

Have a lovely week!

Someone made up lies about you at a job? That’s crazy. But it’s nice to hear that it didn’t deter you from your work and that you’re even interested in similar projects now. Definitely resilient.

The unexpected always leads to opportunities for growth, but yikes about someone telling lies about you!

They are fun and unexpected photos! I’m so sorry to hear about how you were treated at your job though, it’s sad bullying continues into adulthood! I’m glad you are doing better now and it hasn’t put you off the work.

Hope that you are having a great week so far 🙂
