“Normal is not something to aspire to, it’s something to get away from.”
– Jodie Foster
Interview Magazine March 2016
We are all a combination of different things though some personality traits are stronger than others. When people think of me, I hope that they think of someone that is very loyal to her friends (especially her close friends who are like family!), stubborn or set in her ways (I definitely like things a certain way!) and a little obsessed/must research the entire internet when it comes to certain things (latest focus: gluten free or sugar free recipes for my daughter). I saw this quote and editorial from Jodie Foster for Interview magazine and started thinking about how I am viewed. But am I normal?
Maybe. I may be normal in some ways – as a wife and a mother. But like Jodie Foster, I also aspire to get away from normal too. I will still sing in the elevator. I’ll still always hold my husband’s hand even though we’re beyond the honeymoon phase. I’ll continue reading books from financial books to natural skincare remedies way after they’re not cool anymore.
I’ll embrace all the quirks that are a part of me and always aspire to be more as well.
How do you get away from normal?
Have a lovely week!
I think it’s always good to embrace who we are—even all of the quirks, flaws, and unique traits that we carry are beautiful. As for the editorial, it looks marvellous and such a smart thing that they made it in black in white, it reads stronger this way to me in a good way.

What a wonderful quite! When I was younger I wanted to be “normal”, but then I grew up and realized that life is much more interesting when you are different 🙂
i am not normal at all. something i’m still embracing, even in the blogging world where i feel shut out sometimes.
